Drag Finish Machines, DF-I

All Otec DF series disc finishing machines for de burring & polishing uniquely feature:

Process system:
Drag Finish Machines

  • Parts to be processed are held in jigs or fixtures fixed to a revolving turret, which is automatically lowered into the polishing media, contained in the process container.
  • The turret is programmed to periodically reverse direction to ensure a uniform surface finish.
  • Process times are typically 60 to 90 minutes.

Machine configuration:

  • There are five machines in the range, from 12 to 140 litre, process container capacity.
  • The top of the range DF 140 will carry ten fixtures, each capable of holding several parts depending on size and shape,
  • thus producing a throughput of up to 3,000 parts per day.

Description of normal operational sequence:

  • Parts to be de burred or polished are normally loaded into the fixtures at the workbench.
  • Fixtures are clicked into quick release chucks situated on the underside of the turret.
  • The computer programme is set to lower the revolving turret for processing to begin.
  • At the end of the cycle, the fixtures are released and replaced by another set.
  • Within 5 minutes the next process cycle can be started and the finished parts can be removed from their fixtures.
